Fritz, born into an established winemaker’s family, fell madly in love with the fascinating Frieda, but their budding love was a forbidden one. Frieda was young, wild and independent, envisioning a life for herself that exceeded the wildest dreams of most women at that time. She aspired to carve her own path in this world, to live for herself and not only for her family as a housewife and mother. Fritz was expected to marry a tame woman, someone who would take care of him and his home.
